The Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar is about to launch the Residential Education Scheme for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas (SRESHTA) on Friday, June 3, 2022. The objective of this scheme is to provide quality education to the scheduled caste students in reputed private schools. school.

Under the scheme, every year around 3,000 meritorious Scheduled Caste students from States/Union Territories are selected for SRESHTA (NETS) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) through a transparent mechanism of National Entrance Test, the ministry said in a statement. will be done through ,

SRESHTA is envisioned to provide access to high quality residential education free of cost to meritorious poor students from Scheduled Caste communities, whose parents’ annual income is up to Rs 2.5 lakh per annum, free of cost.

Selected students will be given admission in class 9 and 11 in best private residential schools affiliated to CBSE to complete their education up to class 12th.

Thereafter, the students can be linked to the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme or the Higher Education Scheme of the Ministry to continue their further studies with adequate financial support from the government.
